2020 Master’s & Specialist Award Presented

Kendall Hunt Publishing K-12 Division Vice President Charley Cook presented Lynne Henwood, current Head of School for FlexSchool and President of the New Jersey Association for Gifted Children since 2018, with the 2020 Master’s & Specialist Award virtually at the NAGC 2020 kick-off event on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020. Henwood was selected because of her passion to educate teachers, administrators, and state and national legislators on effective strategies to meet the needs of gifted students.
The Master’s & Specialist Award is presented to those who have demonstrated at least four of the following: teaching, writing, advocacy, curriculum development, community service in gifted education, juried presentations (local, state or national), facilitating the social and emotional development of gifted and talented students, mentoring/tutoring of children, publication of papers in juried and/or non-juried publications, participation in graduate student research colloquia or teacher in-service/parent workshop.
“Lynne Henwood’s continuous work to support the gifted and talented field to better service educators and their students is what set her apart as this year’s recipient,” said Charley Cook, vice president of Kendall Hunt Publishing K-12 Division. “We are honored to sponsor an outstanding individual in the world of gifted education."
Kendall Hunt is a proud sponsor of the NAGC Master’s & Specialist Award. In addition to a plaque, Henwood also received a check for $1,500.
