CHOOSE FORMAT

BSCS Biology: Understanding for Life is based on real-world phenomena to promote high school students’ problem-solving, critical-thinking and inquiry skills. This high school curriculum is specifically designed to achieve all expectations in the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).

This unique student experience allows for opportunities in collaboration and cooperative learning through various assessment methods. The curriculum is structured for students to tap into their own personal understanding of science addressing related challenges throughout their lives. Each unit focuses on key concepts ranging from body systems to biodiversity, enabling students to build a lifelong understanding of science and the world around them.

The challenges explored in the program’s four units are:

  • Infectious diseases
  • Heredity and complex diseases
  • Sustainable food systems
  • Protection of biodiversity

The Teacher Handbook serves as an overview and a reference for teachers. It is intended to be an accompaniment to the Teacher Edition and includes the curriculum overview, contents, instructional approach and tips on how to use the course components.
