IMKH California, an IM® v.360 math curriculum, is problem-based and builds strong classroom math communities. It gives students a clear progression of concepts and helps teachers deepen their understanding of math and student thinking.

The curriculum encourages collaboration and meaningful mathematical conversations, highlighting Big Ideas, Major Concepts, and Mathematical Practices, while integrating Environmental Principles & Concepts and supports for MLL, ELD, and EL students.

Grade 6

The big ideas in Grade 6 include: developing visual and intuitive understanding of area and surface area, working with ratios, rates, and percentages, and strengthening number sense through fraction division and multi-digit operations with decimals. Students also build skills with expressions, equations, variables, and rational numbers, including negatives and inequalities, and learn to analyze data sets to interpret statistical questions, patterns, and distributions. The course concludes with an optional unit that lets students apply and connect ideas from throughout the year.
