Each of the 15 chapters reinforces learning objectives and encourages students to engage with each other through each learning activity. The teacher has the opportunity to assess the level of understanding among students and offer the necessary clarifications, summaries and discussion questions to enhance learning.
Graphics throughout aid in students’ learning and amplify what they're reading throughout each chapter. These graphics are in the form of tables, maps and images of historical figures and events. The general timeline throughout incorporates major events and offers students a snapshot view of the various strands of history over time. The three major periods include: Pre-Columbian, Colonial and US periods and the complete over-arching theme is the meeting and exchange of different people that result in the history of Mexicans in Texas during the 19th and 20th centuries.
